Hand Painted Wine Glasses

If you have ever thought that it might be nice to get some hand painted wine glasses as a gift to commemorate some special occasion then join the club. Many years ago I thought the same thing and from there went on to create a nice little income stream from painting wine glasses for friends and family and later on delivering my designs to shops and as a corporate gift.

The story is as follows. I was totally up to my ears in debt and needed to buy a present for a friend's wedding. At the time I had some art material at home and an unwanted gift of some wine goblets, being an aficionado of the grape we had plenty of wine glasses at home!

Anyway, I didn't feel that I could afford to pay for a decent wedding gift so I got my thinking cap on to something more creative. The penny dropped and I started working that afternoon on painting some wine glasses. The first few attempts were not great to tell the truth and the glasses ended up being thrown out. However I soon got the hang of it and eventually I designed a "his and hers" design that satisfied me. I got a nice box and some ribbons, ripped up some newspaper to house the glasses and made it look really nice. To cut a long story short they loved them, to this day they are on the mantelpiece and are brought out regularly when they are toasting something special alongside the ones they asked me to do for the birth of their first child.

Many of the guests at the wedding had special occasions coming up, one even asked me for a set to commemorate his divorce! People paid a nice little amount for each design. Eventually I made a set of templates and stencils which I still use to this day unless someone asks for an exclusive design.
